ABOUT US:
Habitat for Humanity-Spokane is a nonprofit, ecumenical Christian housing ministry dedicated to eliminating poverty housing. Since 1987, Habitat-Spokane has built 190 homes, providing affordable home ownership as an option for very low income families.
Habitat homes are built simply and affordably through partnership with community volunteers and donations. All costs to build the homes are transferred to the family. Community support keeps building expenses low, thus reducing the cost to the family.
Habitat is not a give-away program. To qualify, eligible families invest 500 hours of their own labor (sweat equity) in building their homes as well as others. Once completed, the homes are sold to partner families at cost with a 0% mortgage held by Habitat-Spokane.
Habitat for Humanity instills the pride of ownership and fosters the development of positive relationships among neighbors and the community at large. With decent, affordable home ownership, Habitat families create a solid foundation for a brighter future for themselves.

THE IMPORTANCE OF GIVING -
Habitat for Humanity-Spokane relies on the generosity of our community to provide funds, materials, and time to build decent, affordable homes for people in need. More than 80% of our annual operating budget directly supports home construction, land costs, and home buyer education. Once a home is complete, mortgage payments are recycled back into our program to build more homes. Your gift continues to give back.
You may choose to make a secured contribution online or through the mail by printing a donation form to mail with your gift.
Questions about making a donation? Contact our Development Director, Courtney Susemiehl, at Courtney@habitat-spokane.org

Many companies encourage their employees to get involved and support local causes by offering a Matching Gift, Volunteer, or Payroll Deduction programs. Through these programs, a company may match employee donations, provide time-off for volunteering, a donation for employee volunteer hours, or offer payroll giving option (such as through United Way or Combined Federal Campaign).
*Please contact your Human Resources Department to find out if your company offers a program to further help Habitat for Humanity.
WILL & ESTATE PLANS:
A bequest is an easy way to make a lasting difference beyond your lifetime. You may choose a specific dollar amount or a percentage of your estate. We recommend you consult with your financial advisor to determine the best gift arrangement for your estate, and to specify "Habitat for Humanity-Spokane" in your will.
*Please let us know if you've named Habitat-Spokane, so we may acknowledge your commitment.

When you donate land, Habitat for Humanity-Spokane may build on the property or sell it and use the revenue for home building, homeowner education, or operations.
*For questions about land needs, please contact our Operations Director at 509-534-2552, ext. 10.
______________________________FAITH RELATIONS______________________________
FAITH IN ACTION:
Habitat for Humanity-Spokane has built over 194 homes with families in need with help from volunteers and donors of every faith background in this community. Habitat-Spokane will partner with all community members including other affordable housing providers, ethnic and minority communities, and low-income families to raise the standards of affordable housing. Habitat-Spokane will provide hope and stability for families in partnership while building our community through quality home ownership.
GET INVOLVED!
There are many ways your congregation can get involved: schedule a group of volunteers to help construct homes (youth groups, small groups, pastor's build, etc.), provide funding for construction materials, host an out-of-town group at your congregation, offer prayer at Habitat events (clergy), prepare meals for volunteers, and long-term partnership.
SCHEDULE A GROUP FROM YOUR CONGREGATION TO VOLUNTEER TO BUILD HOMES!
Help raise the roof on a new home for a deserving family. Pound nails, paint, install appliances, hang doors, and installing windows are just a few of the activities your groups can help us with. No experience, no problem! Our qualified construction staff will guide and train you. Experienced? Help us lead other volunteers or give of your expertise as an individual.
INVITE A HABITAT REPRESENTATIVE TO SPEAK TO YOUR CONGREGATION:
Learn how your congregation can partner with Habitat-Spokane to help put an end to poverty housing in our community. We can speak to your whole congregation, small group, or set up an information booth between services.
PARTICIPATE IN OUR NEW DOMESTIC MISSION TRIP PROGRAM, "HABITAT CAMP"
Invite your friends and family to come to Spokane for a mission trip, or host a Habitat Camp group at your congregation. The 2008 Habitat Camp ministry begins in April and ends in August. Groups of up to 25 volunteers from all across the country come to Spokane for a week of home building and fellowship. The cost is $150 each, which pays for building materials and also includes a week long accommodation, one meal per day, a Habitat Camp souvenir t-shirt, and an experience of a life time.
*For more information, please contact Dennis Reed, Community Relations Director, at Dennis@habitat-spokane.org
